Village Hall Case Study

Towards the end of last year, we were approached to provide a solution for a village hall’s heating issues. They had been recommended from another hall we had serviced who were very happy with the system we installed there, and they were interested in how we could help them as well.

At the time of contacting us, they were using 5 x 3kw Mid Infrared heaters to heat the space. Their main complaints were that the heaters were expensive to run, and the light emitted by the heaters was disruptive to the hall users.

From a health point of view, we were very concerned by the thought of these heaters being used to heat a hall because of the negative effect they have on people’s health, but also because of how hot the heaters actually become.

Mid Infrared is most popularly seen outside of pubs and restaurants in smoking shelters, and they emit an orange glow.

Mid Infrared is prone to causing something medically known as “Hot Head”. Hot Head has a number of symptoms including migraines, nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness. Although the head can feel hot, the rest of the body will still feel cold.

Despite this, Mid Infrared is still a popular heating choice for many village halls because people feel the effects of them quickly. However, more and more people are starting to see that Mid Infrared is actually not only bad for you, but also an expensive heating form.

To replace the 15kw Mid Infrared system being used in this village hall, we did a volumetric calculation of the area they wanted heating and created our recommendation. In the end, we recommended 4 x 2.4kw which meant we were reducing the wattage of the system by 5.4kw – a massive drop!

In addition to this, our heaters would be much healthier for the users of the hall as Far Infrared has a range of health benefits, including increasing blood circulation, helping to ease arthritic pain, increased muscle and organ oxygenation and there is no visible light emitted by our heaters so there is no nasty glare to hurt people’s eyes.

Install and Delivery:

The install for this was carried out by independent contractors and went smoothly, with a small amount of over-the-phone advice from our technical department.

Our technical department is available every weekday 9am-5pm to assist with installations, controller programming and any other technical advice that may be required. Our team are all knowledgeable on the product and they can assist with any enquiry you may have.
