Infrared Heating in Passive House (Passivhaus)

Infrared Heating in Passive House (Passivhaus)

Passive houses, also known as ”Passivhaus” are becoming more and more popular and the concept of having an energy efficient, comfortable, affordable and ecological home is appealing to more people and a wider market.

To achieve such an economical house, special energy efficient building components and quality ventilation systems are used. Some figures have shown how much of a difference in energy usage a passive house can make. Statistics carried out on 114 Passive Houses showed an average saving of approximately 90%. In other words, the Passive House is a ā€œfactor 10 houseā€ which only uses one tenth of the energy used by average houses.

Far infrared heaters are extremely popular in these houses as they are very low wattage and they donā€™t need to be on for as much time as regular electric heaters. It provides a much more efficient type of heat as it isnā€™t lost through draughty areas, open windows or doors or bad insulation.

Neal came to us earlier in year and explained he was looking for some heaters to heat his house and wanted some recommendations on the required wattage. He was in the process of constructing his own passive house and oil and Gas was not an option and so electric was the best route to go down.

After the phone call, Neal sent over an email with floor plans and said he wanted the panels to be as minimalistic as possible.

We sent over a quotation the same day with the wattage requirements. The customer replied with a few amendments to ensure it was exactly how he wanted it to look. One great benefit of an infrared system is that it is completely adjustable to suit your personal style. Itā€™s completely adjustable to suit your own preference and the number of combinations are endless.

The final quotation had all platinum white ceiling panels throughout which feature a matte white finish which blends in very well and goes almost unnoticed. The customer opted for our Neo range of controllers which are all completely wireless and provide app control so that you can control your heating wherever you are.

Once Neal was happy with the final quotation the order was placed and the heaters were sent out that day for next day delivery.

As part of our aftercare service we got in touch with the customer, to ensure that he was completely satisfied with the order and that everything went smoothly with the installation. Following on from that Neal kindly sent in an email testimonial about the ordering process, the customers service and the product itself. See below the full testimonial, a Trustpilot review and pictures of the installation and the stunning building which the heaters went in.

ā€˜ā€™I designed my self-build house to be as eco-friendly as possible with no gas or oil heating system. In choosing to have a modern all electric heating system, my search lead to warm4less and their range of infrared heaters. Their friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I have installed their ceiling panels into every room, each panel wired in and connected to individual fully programmable Neostat controllers. This gives me total control over the heating either manually or remotely via the Neohub. It’s a great system – no ugly boilers and obtrusive radiators or tanks, and much cheaper to install than regular fossil fuel systems. The running costs are low too! Neal, Cornwall.ā€™ā€™
