What is a phase changing material?

A phase changing material (PCM) is a substance that absorbs heat energy when it changes phase, this is known as latent heat.

When the material is charged, it changes state to become a solid which then produces the latent heat to warm up your water. When it changes back to a liquid, the temperature lowers which is when the PCM requires recharging. The material stays as a solid for up to ten days meaning you can get hot water for up to ten days on a single charge.

This method results in a more reliable, safe, non-toxic and non-flammable way to supply your home with hot water while still lowering energy use and carbon emissions.

Thermino heat batteries utilise a high performance Plentigrade P58 phase changing material that is completely safe.
