How does the system work?

Thermino heat batteries utilise a phase changing material (PCM) to absorb, store and release large amounts of heat when it changes between a liquid and solid state.

Heat is absorbed on melting and released on freezing. This process stores up to four times more energy than heating and cooling water using current standard methods.

A high-powered heating element that is immersed in the PCM rapidly charges the Thermino heat battery and heat can be quickly extracted to provide fresh, mains pressure hot water at a constant temperature when it is needed.

Grid or solar PV generated electricity can be used to charge the heat battery up when it needs recharging.
