How The HydroCell Can Save You Money.
As some of you may know we have just released our brand new HydroCell water heaters. With the increase in energy prices, we thought it may be useful for you to see how this system can save you money on running costs.
The average home uses around 200 litres of water per day, 100 litres for a bath and then 100 litres on showers, washing up etc.
A gas boiler will take 30 minutes to fully heat a 200L tank of water to supply your home for one day.
As of August 2022, the average price per kilowatt of gas is 8 pence.
£0.08 gas price per hour x 32KW Gas Boiler = £2.56 per hour. Divide by 2 for the half an hour it takes to heat your water.
This means an average house will currently be spending £1.28 a day for hot water.
Although the HydroCell takes 3-5 hours to charge, you need to do it far less frequently.
As of August 2022, the average price per kilowatt of electric is 30 pence.
£0.30 electric price per hour x 2.8KW HydroCell = £0.84 per hour. Multiply by 4 for the hours it takes to charge = £3.36
The costs of £3.36 however will provide your home with hot water for anywhere between 4 and 9 days. If we take this at an average of 6.5 days, it means you’ll be spending £0.51 a day to supply your home with water.
If you use a dual tariff, you will be able to take advantage of cheaper night rates to charge the HydroCell which can be as low as £0.05 per KwH. To put that into perspective:
£0.05 electric price per hour x 2.8KW HydroCell = £0.14 per hour. Multiply by 4 for the hours it takes to charge = £0.56.
£0.56 divide by an average of 6.5 days usage = £0.08
