Why is it better to have an external controller rather than an internal one?

A few reasons why we offer external controllers is the variety, along with lifespan of both the panel and the controller.

Offering external controllers means that you aren’t tied down to the controller that is inbuilt into the panels as more often than not, your panel won’t be compatible with other controllers if it already has one inbuilt. If you are looking for something specific, an inbuilt controller isn’t the best option. There are a lot of controller options so we can really narrow this down to exactly how you want to use your heater. The second reason is that our heaters are rated for 100,000 hours, the equates to around 30 years of regular usage. Most controllers only have a warranty period of 12 month. If your inbuilt controller breaks down, you’d need to replace the whole panel. If your external controller breaks down, you only need to replace the controller itself and not the whole unit.

Another reason is that we believe the technology for inbuilt controllers, just isn’t quite there yet, for most forms of heating. Imagine you have your heat source in your room, and your sensor to take the temperature of the room is inside that heat source – how accurate can that be to take the temperature of your room? If your controller is completely external, it’s in the open air, midway up the wall and therefore can take a much more accurate temperature of your room (usually around half a degree).
